Medical imaging research groups and the work they produce are changing
The software that underlies much of the work is becoming evermore comprehensive and complex; the groups themselves are being required to collaborate for organizational and funding reasons. These requirements dictate a level of sophistication in software engineering beyond the skills of laboratory personnel either labs will suffer reduced productivity or they must acquire the software that is required to fulfill the needs of the project.
Atamai is positioned to fill this niche, operating a growing repository of software components that can be modified and assembled quickly into functioning applications by those who prefer to focus on their problem domain rather than software engineering. The vast majority of this code base is available under a nonrestrictive license, making it attractive for academic environments to use and contribute code. These institutions and their employees derive comfort from the fact that their access to the intellectual property is preserved. Atamai Inc. was initially formed in collaboration with the Robarts Research Institute, the University of Western Ontario, and the London Health Sciences Centre to manage a repository of intellectual property in the form of medical imaging software components.
Coupled to Atamai's readily available opensource algorithms, are proprietary applications that have been developed by the skilled programmers at the company. Our powerful visualization tools have been applied to the biomedical, surgical, and image processing fields, generating products that can be licensed for both academic and industrial purposes.
The tremendous experience and skill within our team, along with the ubiquity of the software we use, makes Atamai an ideal choice for customdesigned software contracts.
